Competitive Programming
With the help from friends who are good at competitive programming, it was noticeable that I am getting better at this field.
First, I switch from Java to C++ because C++ is a lot faster than Java and most people use C++ in CP. Second, I discover that the key to growing faster is to solve problems CONSTANTLY and try to solve them quickly. If I didn't manage to solve them in under 30 minutes, I shall seek help instead of scratching my head for hours.
Internship
People are preparing for internships at the end of this month. I just discovered how fast the time is for a freshie to be a sophomore then enter the working world soon. To be frank, I feel that I can move faster in terms of building my portfolio for future employers’ references.
Books
- Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance
- Lean Enterprise by Barry O’Reilly, Jez Humble, and Joanne Molesky
Elon Musk is really moving fast and determined to make humans a multi-planetary species. I admire his style of doing things fast in a frugal way so that his company can burn the money on the correct projects.
Lean Enterprise, to put it simply, it teaches me on how an enterprise should embrace IT to keep their competitive edge. It urges enterprise leader to act fast and keep their company innovative by giving context to the big direction instead of giving detailed instruction. I’m still reading the books, so not much comment on it yet.
Chinese New Year
This year is a bit special. We choose not to have gatherings with relatives to flatten the curve of rising COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. For someone like me who tends to stay at home even before the pandemic is a norm zzz. But still, I would love to have my campus life back.
Stay Safe.
